I'm mired pretty firmly in baking-with-berries season. I've shared both blueberry and strawberry recipes with you this month. Now, on to raspberries! Of all the interesting dessert names, I enjoy the simplicity of the name "fool." From what I understand, fools got their name because they are so simple that any fool could make them. A fool is essentially a combination of sweetened whipped cream and fruit. Yes, I'd say that's pretty simple. Foolproof, even.

Raspberry Oat Muffins

Recently, I was looking through past BoB photos for a little project and happened upon photos of these muffins. I quickly realized that I had never shared the recipe with you. And, believe me, these muffins want nothing more than to be shared with you! This recipe is a bit different than the traditional muffin. I added oats to them to give them a little extra flavor and a hint of chewiness. I adore raspberries, but feel free to use your favorite berry to make these your own.

Mixed Berry Cobbler

Well, my friends, I am less than happy to say that summer is officially here. I've never been a fan of hot weather. This year, though, I'm going to try to think of every day of this heat as one day closer to fall. On a happier note, there are two things I like about summer. I do like having more daylight hours. I somehow feel like I have more time to get things done. Best of all, though, is all the fruit available from the local markets. I admit that I get a little giddy when I start seeing the first fresh berries of the season.
