During my time at King Arthur Flour's Blog & Bakeā„¢, I found a new love. Now, don't worry. Quinn is not going anywhere. I found a new baking love - white whole wheat flour. Sure, I'd seen it before, but I always kind of discounted it and went with traditional wheat flour when needed. But, I found out that white whole wheat flour has all the benefits of whole wheat flour, but it produces lighter-colored baked goods with a milder flavor. There's red wheat, where we get whole wheat flour, and then there's white spring wheat, which gives us white whole wheat flour.

Quick breads and other breakfast baked goods are in my top 5 things to bake. I love them fresh from the oven. My not being much of a morning person makes it so they don't get baked that often. I should really work on that. I feel that there are two different kinds of quick breads. There are the dessert-level sweet kind. While I like those (hello, gorgeous!), my heart lies with the less sweet ones. Those are the ones that are great for a lazy weekend morning or even an afternoon treat.

So, here's the thing. This recipe is one of the bonus recipes in my new cookbook that's available in the iBookstore. My intention was not to share it here on BoB, but I've gotten such strong reactions to these that I feel that it would be a disservice to you non-iPad owners. These brownies took less than an hour from the ghost of an idea to warm, gooey chocolate awesomeness. I was inspired by those Magic Cookie Bars we all know and love. While they are perfectly delicious with their graham cracker crust, it seemed that making the base a fudgy brownie would make something decidedly amazing. I was so right.

As is often the case, I came across this recipe while I was browsing the internet looking for something else entirely. Regardless of any focused search, spying "Nutella" in the name of a recipe will pretty much guarantee that my search will get derailed. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who always, always keeps Nutella in the pantry. It's a rare occasion when I run out. You never know when you're going to require it with an unrivaled intensity.
