  • 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • 13 ounce jar Nutella
  • 1/4 cup shortening
  • 1 & 1/3 cups sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • chopped hazelnuts
  • confectioner’s sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.Toast hazelnuts in a shallow pan for about 5 minutes. Set aside.
Increase oven temperature to 375 degrees. Beat Nutella and shortening together until smooth. Gradually add sugar and mix well. Add eggs and vanilla and mix until blended.
In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Alternate adding this mixture and the milk slowly to the Nutella mixture, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Stir in hazelnuts.
Refrigerate dough for about 20 minutes if necessary. Shape dough into 1-inch diameter balls. Roll in hazelnuts and then in confectioner’s sugar. Place cookies about 2 inches apart on a greased/sprayed cookie sheet. Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
