I tend to believe that the combination of chocolate and peanut butter is a good example of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. I do love them on their own merits individually, but the two together is just something magical.

Peanut butter and chocolate go together about as well as anything else I can think of in the food world. I’ve had a long-time love affair with that combination. There’s nothing fancy about it, but it’s just plain delicious. This pie is no exception.

I was recently challenged to make peanut butter cookies by someone who has sampled many varieties. I readily accepted and went home to find just the right recipe. Do you have any idea how many recipes there are out there for peanut butter cookies? I was a tad overwhelmed, to say the least.

Since BoB was born two years ago, it’s not often that I bake the same thing twice. While there are a few exceptions, I try to make new recipes as much as possible. This recipe, however, gave me a sense of déjà vu as I got halfway through making the dough. It just seemed vaguely familiar.

There are a few food combinations that never get old. Peanut butter and jelly is one of those combinations for me. I will gladly eat a PB&J most any day. This recipe using that delicious combination recently called out to me from the pages of one of my favorite cookbooks, Martha Stewart’s Cookies.
