While I may not be a huge fan of plain chocolate cake, I can certainly sing the praises of chocolate cake with some added interest. Cinnamon, cream cheese, peanut butter, or, in this instance, a liqueur.
I found this cake recipe while flipping through The Magnolia Bakery Cookbook. As you well know, I do love to make a Bundt cake. Plus, there’s chocolate and amaretto. How could I go wrong?

I’ve mentioned before that I’m not much of a “pretty dessert” maker. I lack the patience for intricate detail work or even for frosting a cake. When I make cupcakes, they are the ones without all the pretty frosting and such. I’m all about simple.

Since BoB was born two years ago, it’s not often that I bake the same thing twice. While there are a few exceptions, I try to make new recipes as much as possible. This recipe, however, gave me a sense of déjà vu as I got halfway through making the dough. It just seemed vaguely familiar.

I’ve been on a bit of an unplanned hiatus from BoB. No big reasons, just a whole bunch of little ones that add up. I actually haven’t quite gotten around to turning the oven back on. I do plan on getting back in the kitchen this week. In the meantime, I’ll share these bars that I made a while back.
