I confess that I don't often bake with whole wheat flour. I think that's due more to habit than taste. But, it can be a great substitute for traditional flour in many recipes, like this one. I am fairly confident that if you tasted one of these without knowing the list of ingredients, you'd never guess that they are made with whole wheat flour. In fact, of all the cookies in my recent baking memory, these are probably in the top 10.

View a printable recipe or more photos Fun fact: I do not like raisins. Not even a little bit. I do, however, very much like oatmeal cookies. They're chewy and cinnamon-y and just plain yummy. Of course, oats and raisins have long been joined together in cookiedom, so finding oatmeal cookies without raisins is usually a challenge. So, I usually make my own oatmeal cookies, substituting something like dates or currants for the raisins to make them more me-friendly.

Whenever I see some kind of chocolate I've not tried before, I usually find some justification for buying it, especially if I can bake with it. Recently, I found Schokinag's semi-sweet chocolate baking chunks and knew that I had to have them. As much as I use chocolate chips, I knew that they would be put to good use.

View more photos Cranberries have become synonymous with the holidays. So, it stands to reason that they should play a part in holiday baking. These cookies are a twist on an oatmeal-nut cookie. That cookie alone would be tasty, but the addition of dried cranberries gives them a little extra kick of flavor.
