Monster Brownies are my new love. The idea is to pack as much flavor into these brownies as possible. You can pick just one or two add-ins, but I love the idea of using whatever you have on hand. These are a great way to use up that little bit of chocolate or candy you have on hand. You never have to make these the same way twice!

As is often the case, I came across this recipe while I was browsing the internet looking for something else entirely. Regardless of any focused search, spying "Nutella" in the name of a recipe will pretty much guarantee that my search will get derailed. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who always, always keeps Nutella in the pantry. It's a rare occasion when I run out. You never know when you're going to require it with an unrivaled intensity.

Brownies are one of my favorite things to bake. Honestly, I like eating them just as much, too. They’re simple to make and they’re packed with chocolate. What more could you want? It's easy to dress up a brownie by making it into a tart. While it is still a brownie, somehow it's just a little fancier. This goes a step further in the dressing up department by adding one of my favorite chocolate companions - hazelnuts.

Of all the many, many versions of brownies I've made in my baking life, I very rarely have used a chocolate-fruit combination. It's not that I dislike the combination. Rather, the thought of nuts or caramel or peanut butter generally persuades me to go another route. The addition of dried sour cherries to dark chocolate brownies makes for a chewy, slightly tart brownie. That tartness combines with dark chocolate to make an irresistible brownie.
