i agree with your stand point on mixes. they are good for a) whipping something up last minute b) whipping something up for kids who will eat it no matter what… like school birthday parties…

but these at least look really pretty and moist. maybe best eaten after a few glasses of wine

I don’t use mixes much either but I’ve been tempted to try some of the yummy-sounding ones from King Arthur’s Baker’s Catalogue. Have you tried any of their mixes? Maybe you could review one of their scone mixes next

Just like you, I tend to be slightly suspicious of mixes too (even if they come from Williams-Sonoma). But looks like you made the best of it with your augmentations. Very nice!
